My 4th Jobless/Bossless day...

I thought I will be super free after I quit my job. In fact, I have not been having enough time to complete my planned tasks. Let's see what I did today (in fact it's already yesterday)...

7:00 a.m. : Woke up, went to pick up Hoonster

8:30-9:00 a.m.: Meet up with Thea and John for breakfast

9:00-11:00 a.m.: Went to do EPF investment for Hoonster and Pig Pig

11:00-12:00 p.m.: Went to Thea's office to create account, trade stocks, did some tests (Thea insisted that Hoonster and I took some tests on our aura colors)

12:00-3:00 p.m.: Went to get some IT gadgets at Saberkas, I bought a cartridge for my printer, Hoonster got the 8G SD card

3:00-4:00 p.m.: Drove Hoonster to get cake ingredients, went home to bring my laptop and camera

4:00-11:00 p.m.: Baked cake at Audrey's place. My assigned task was to build Thomas the Train. Here is the finishing product...

Hmm... looks like a quiet Thomas the Train...

Here is the artist with her work, in her oily face...

Here are the bakers...

The bakers and the artist...

It's quite a tiring day, I am sure I will fall asleep right away when I go to bed soon. Good night or good morning all !!

Jobless/Bossless Day 1 continue...

What did I do on my first jobless/bossless day??

7 a.m. - 8 a.m. : Woke up, had light breakfast, did some reading, listened to music

8 a.m. - 9 a.m. : Swimming

9 a.m. - 11a.m.: Online chatting with frens, bought some stocks. The furniture shop delivered the office chair that Pig Pig bought me as my jobless/bossless gift. She is such a great pal.

12 p.m. - 1 p.m. : Had lunch with frens at The Cottage, food there was nice

1 p.m. - 2 p.m. : Shopped at Popular bookstore, then went glocery shopping at supermarket

2:30 - 5 p.m. : Online chatting with friends, surfing internet, sold off the stocks bought this morning

5 p.m. - 6 p.m. : Checked emails
6 p.m. - 8 p.m. : Cooked dinner and is about to have dinner

8 p.m. - 9 p.m. : Plan to sit down and work on some business planning

Overall, I must say I had a very happy and relaxing day, getting no phone calls from the office, only from frens and my mum.
In fact, I actually made more $$ from stock trading today than my normal daily salary. May be it's just luck, but hopefully my luck will continue like this everyday...
Anyway, today is not a bad start at all :)

Jobless Day 1...

Today is my first jobless day. To all those who are thinking of quiting your job, here is how I feel when I am finally out of my job.

1. Happy, relax and stress-free.
2. Somehow not feeling sad about leaving the work place that I have worked for 7-8 years.
3. To me, I don't feel worry or stress about the unknown future in front of me. I actually feel a bit excited about it. As now it's all in my hand.

On this first jobless day, I wanna remind myself few things:

1. I don't like my previous job:

- it's stressful, people look for me only to solve their problems.
- often the problems are too big that caused me headache to think of how to handle.
- people at that work place are stressed, harsh and pushy.
- the work quality of a lot of engineers is not up to standard that it took me time to review, correct errors etc... headache.
- there are just too much work that I don't have much time left for myself. Every Wed needs to have conference call from 8 p.m. to ?? p.m.. So tired.

Conclusion: I am not turning back.

2. I visualize myself to be my own boss and enjoy doing my own biz and investment.

3. I must follow my plans and goals, work to achieve them on the pace I enjoy. Do not slow down too much or else I will lose my momentum and energy.

4. Stay focus, stay sharp, and have fun.

Happy jobless day#1, Jo !!

Today is my last working day in my current company. Yes, it's finally official. No more 8a.m.-xx p.m. working life for the time being.

Audrey and Hoonster made me a 'jobless' cake. Haha, it's so cute, I love it very much!! My colleagues all envied me for having such a cool cake and great friends.

Thank you so much, Audrey and Hoonster!!
Today, 26 Oct 2009, Joanne declared "Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka!!!"...

香港小甜甜 or IQ博士小雲 ??

Just now while Pig Pig was busy answering a phone call from Derbe, at the same time doing something in front of her laptop, I took the chance to do something real quick on her, without her noticing it.

Have you heard of that Hong Kong famous rich lady 小甜甜?

How about that character 小雲 in the cartoon IQ博士?

Here you go, new style finished in 5 minutes.

Usually Pig Pig will be very angry and ask me to delete the pix from the camera right away, but she seems to be okay with this new look. (At least she still kept the plaits till now, even gave me a peace sign, just now even asked me if she should remove them before going to sleep... she seems to like them... hehehe)

Hazardous construction at Ban Hock Rock

Today I went to an Indonesian restaurant at Ban Hock Rock for lunch. While my friend and I were half way eating, we heard a very loud bang outside. Due to our kepo nature, we went out to check it out.

There we saw people staring at the roof of the building we were in. There was a car parking in front of the shop next to the Indonesion restaruant, the car roof was smashed by a huge piece of cement falling off from the building roof.

So the cement fell off, what's the big deal right?

Okay, let's take a closer look at what's inside those broken pieces of cement.

Guess what... it's polystyrene foam!!! Some creative developer has thought of new idea of mixing polystyrene foam with cement to make the skirts of the building roof. How did these people convince themselves of such kind of cost cutting idea could stand the heavy storm and windy condition in Kuching nowadays??

Well, I think this case will definitely become a big news tomorrow and the reputation of that 'smart' developer is gonna go down the drain.

Too bad I didn't carry my camera with me today. Otherwise you can take a look at the building roof as well as the car. The worse thing is that only part of the skirts have fallen down, there is still a long stretch surrounding the building which is about 10 shops wide, with visible cracks...

Friends, if you are thinking of going to the shops at Ban Hock Road, please don't park your car nor walking along that building. I guess soon most of those polystyrene-cement roof skirts will come off.

Pros & Cons of current job vs. my goals

After I tendered my resignation I did an analysis on the Pros and Cons on my current job, and list down some of my goals.

Pros:
1. The pay is good.
2. The position is high.
3. I am stationed in Kuching (the place I love).
4. It provides me financial stability.
5. Keep me occupied with things to do everyday.

Cons:
1. Long working hour.
2. Hectic day in day out, many issues to solve, all urgent.
3. Have to stay late to have conference call with U.S., England and Germany every Wed night.
4. High responsibility, a lot of stress.
5. Need to handle tough and demanding customers.
6. Need to handle many audits and customer visits. Need to entertain customers, lunch/dinner.
7. Endless tasks and emails everyday.

My ideal goals:
1. More time to myself.
2. More peace.
3. Diversify life style, not doing routine job.
4. Exposure to different things, different world.
5. Quality life style.
6. Flexibility.
7. Job satisfaction.

So I guess after going through the list above, it is quite a sensible thing to do that I quit my current job, since all the Cons contradict with my goals, and the Pros just can't really give me what I really wish for.

So I wasn't really that crazy to just walk out from my job.

I am going on long long vacation soon

Okay here is the news. I am soon leaving my current job for good.

Why? Oh well, just feel like doing it.

I was busy like hell over the past few months. Then one day while I was approving some documents, half way I stopped to take a few minutes thinking to myself... 'Do I enjoy my job??' The answer is 'NO'.

There, I made the decision. Typed the resignation letter in 5 minutes, walked to my COO's room, handed over to him. He was so shocked, asked me if this is final, I said 'Yeap'.

Then there were few rounds of talks and counter-offers, HR even offered me job with HR ... haha I have never thought of myself becoming a HR manager. Anyway, I have decided to go.

Don't ask me where I get the courage to quit my job at this downturn period. To be honest, I don't know. Sometimes I really don't know myself that well. Well, I trained myself to be a disciplined and responsible grown-up but deep down there is always this rebellious me crying out loud trying to escape from this boring adult working life.

Guess sometimes we need to listen to our heart, give up something, walk out from our comfort zone, in order to find something new.

So friends, you will soon see me more often on my blog, as I will be having all the time to myself, being jobless.
