My Christmas 2007

I was on leave from 20-25 Dec. It was a ‘long’ 6 days to me with absolutely no plan in my mind at all, just staying at home doing nothing most of the time. Somehow I like the idea, haha.

The club did a huge project at Kampung Empesak on 20 Dec. We handed over all the items we bought for the Kampung people. It feels really good to see the cheers on their face. We finally manage to raise a substantial amount of $ to look into buying more long term items for the people, which is great! I was really glad that we bought the water filter for each of the families there, I hope they make good use of it. The plastic floor mat, the wire baskets and the thermos should be useful too.

Apart from that, I went to take photos of the Celcom X’mas Tree on 21 Dec night with two other friends. We were waiting for the ‘snow’ but when it came, I didn’t manage to capture good ‘snowing’ pix with the right camera setting… too bad.

I held a small party of four at my place on the X’mas Eve. Dom roasted a turkey, Hoonster made the potato salad and dragon fruit jelly. Pig Pig cooked spaghetti (that’s new!...) and I made the vege salad and drinks. The turkey was nice, Dom makes a good cook!

It's another year of 4 of us celebrating X'mas together.
Merry X'mas my friends!!

Quality Man of the Year

I was trying out the ‘Yes’, ‘No’ email survey button in the office today and I found out that we can put several buttons instead of two. There I discussed with my colleague to come out with an email survey on 'The Cutest Guy in Quality Department'. Here is the first round's results:

Seems like there are quite a few ties... so all the girls went for a revote on the top two guys and here is the winner...

His name is Ah Seng by the way...

What do you guys think about the crown that I made?? It’s written ‘Quality Man of the Year’... hahaha... fun leh (this is what I do when I'm too free in the office).

Fab Race 5

I participated in my company's Fab Race. This is the 5th year the company organized this activity but it's my first time joining it. It's like Amazing Race in which the participants have to drive around, complete games, buy treasurers, solve clues on landmarks and answer questions on company history, general knowledge and IQ etc.

I woke up at 4 a.m. and drove to the company to do registration at 5 a.m.. There were total near to 60 teams with 4 members in each team. My original plan was to be the number 10th or 20th team to depart so that we can reference other teams if we can't figure out the clues but my team members were very 'kiasu' and wanted to be the first few to register and depart first (it's on first come first serve basis where the subsequent teams will be departing in every 30 sec interval).

My car... (pix taken at 5 a.m. in the morning so it's a bit dark)

My team - Team 54, with 'ah bui' and 'eh ju'...

It's almost 6 a.m. so there were more and more cars lining up...

Some decorated cars...

We ended up registered as the 2nd team to depart. With all first timers in my team, it's not so easy with just one team in front of us to refer to... The race started at 7 a.m. and our team ended at 2 p.m. (we were within the first 10 teams to arrive though). It was really exhausting. We started from completed games in the company compound, then drove along BDC to Batu Kawa and back to 3rd Miles then drove to Bampfylde Road (along the way have to complete some game events at the Hokkien Garden), then continue to drive to Padungan. We have to stopped along the road every now and then and got down the car to search for answers per the clues given.

Some of the answers... This one the question was "Jurrasic Park I am not. Don't worry little one, I won't harm you. Let me guide you... shall we play?"

Another one... The question was "Ooohh! Double Happiness! Cherry! But the tax! Argh! Scout all around. First half is a no-no, but the 2nd half is something that we look for. Mark your calender folks." The answer is "31 October".

There were many eating events too, including eating roti canai and shallowing French loaf in front of Holiday Inn. The toughest part in the race was when we have to search for answers at the Waterfront and walking along Hilton, Parkson etc. under the burning hot sun. I almost went 'pengsan' due to dehydration. The race ended at Holiday Inn pool side where I felt like jumping into the pool after submitting the answers.

After getting home and took the shower, I headed straight to the bed due to bad headache. However my team members called me up to attend the prize giving at night at Holiday Inn pool side. OMG, I was so tired but I went. At the dinner, all the answers were announced. It looks to me that only the experienced players can really relate those clues, this race is not for the first timers. So as expected, we went home empty handed.

Well this is an experience of spending $$ to participate, to design our own team T-shirt, to drive whole day long in my high petrol consumption car, to expose under the sun and get dehydrated and eventually, ended up with nothing. Quite stupid but fun lah.

A stubborn patient that made me mad...

There is one type of patient that can drive me crazy, a stubborn type like my dad. He came to do his check up and hand surgery for dialysis use. I'm not sure what exactly was wrong with him, was it his body or his mood was not good... Somehow he didn't want to talk much, has very bad mood, and shows painful and suffering expression whole day long. That worries people but when it comes to daily health check such as blood sugar and pressure, he can be stubborn and refused to do it.

On the other hand, when it comes to meal time, he would eat more than others and kept requesting to have snacks between main meals. As a diabetes patient, he is not worried about controlling his blood sugar but kept worrying about having low blood sugar and pressure, and would get angry if we don't give him food. End up his blood sugar and pressure become irregular.

These few days my mood is very much affected by him, I got mad but I couldn't show it which makes me wanna explode inside. What I can say is that I get fed up to help those who refuse to help themselves.

Reasons for not updating my blog recently...

A lot of friends asked me why I haven't been updating my blog lately... Well, the answers are:

1) I'm too busy with too many web sites to surf online everytime. See, besides my blog, I'm also checking >5 other blogs on regular basis and when others are actively updating their page, I have to spend more time to read there.

2) There comes other of my network sites such as Multiply, Friendster and latest FaceBook which I'm also checking on regular basis and they are linked to endless numbers of other interesting sites. There are just more and more people joining the network everyday.

3) I'm learning Photography recently and there are just endless good sites to explore and so many beautiful photos to admire...

4) On top of that, I have regular MSN and Yahoo Messenger chat friends who would buzz me once they see me appear online.

So you see, I can't possibly have much time to spend on maintaining my blog anymore... especially after my blog pal Dom is gone due to stupid China banned blogging few months ago...

Hahahahaha... so many excuses, actually I'm just lazy okay!

Tchuss, Deutschland! – Day 10 & 11 (28-29 Oct 2007)

It's time to say good bye to Germany! Tchuss!

Waiting at Dresden Airport at 4 a.m. in the morning:

Waited for 4 hours at the Frankfurt Airport, eventually I'm on the plane back to K.L.:

Beautiful sunrise in the clouds:

I didn't bring much home with me, except plenty of pix taken by my G9 and some wonderful memory of me walking in the parks in this cold cold Autumn 2007...

Guter Tag, Deutschland! – Day 9 (27 Oct 2007)

27 October 2007:-

Dresden Downtown

Introducing the colors of autumn in Germany... I have always dreamed of walking in a park in autumn somewhere in Europe. Here I am. The experience is simply wonderful - cool, beautiful, peaceful... just the way I like it...

Ancient buildings that were bombed during world war, museums, churches made up a big part of Dresden downtown:

Some interesting snapshots along the streets:

More beautiful buildings and churches...

Strolling down the street... I came to this entrance to a magnificent garden:

Here you are, inside the garden:

The view from the other side of the river:

Panaromic pix stitched together by my G9:

So, how would you rate this city?

I enjoyed Dresden very much, it is different from Erfurt and Eisenach, quite unique in its own way. What do you think?
