Hong Kong is really a shopping heaven, no kidding. It's a place where you can see shops and consumers almost everywhere you go. Business keeps running till late night and a lot are 24 hours a day. Normal human beings all turn into shoppers at that place.
Say for example, if you plan to buy a pair of shoes, besides all the European, U.S. etc. famous designer brands, there are Japanese, Hong Kong and some other weird weird fancy brands to surprise you. The color options are crazy too, normal black or brown just seems too boring over there. There are all sorts of colors, with fancy printing or simply plain... just anything under the sun. Anything you can think of, you can find there with unlimited options.
The variety of food is excellent too. I can find almost all kinds of food over there. But Japanese trend seems to be still running strong, from food to goods.
So the whole trip is about food, shopping, sleep, walk, walk and walk... but hey, I really don't mind shopping in Hong Kong at all. It's definitely better than K.L. and S'pore :p

Jo, stumbled upon your site accidently but it was such a fascinating read i was hooked for a good half hour.
